Simon Laurent has specialised in immigration work since 1996, with a special interest in refugees. He is on the Board of the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment (NZAMI).

Simon is a founding member of the Auckland District Law Society Immigration & Refugee Committee (Convenor for 2006 and 2007). He has been involved in dialogue with Immigration New Zealand over the application of law and Policy, and has prepared submissions on the new Immigration Act due to be passed in 2009.
